CEDM a Useful Alternative for Breast Cancer Screening
A study published in Radiology found contrast-enhanced digital mammography (CEDM) could be an effective substitute for full-field digital mammography for screening women at a higher risk of breast cancer. Generally, CEDM helped providers diagnose 15 cancers in 14 patients, a cancer detection rate of 15.5 per 1,000 patients. Moreover, the contrast enhancement associated with the CEDM examinations helped spot six of eight cancers that were overlooked when only low-energy images were being used.
