Data Reveals Estimated Cancer Screening Deficit of 9.4 Million Due to the Pandemic
A study reports that the U.S. has amassed a cancer screening deficit of about 9.4 million during the pandemic. Screening to diagnose breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers declined sharply between March and May 2020 versus 2019 data. Breast cancer screening witnessed the biggest drop at 90.8%, followed by colorectal at 79.3% and prostate at 63.4%. The study was published in JAMA Oncology.
