Radiology Trainees and COVID-19
With radiology education moved online and most elective radiologic procedures postponed, between March and April many radiology trainees volunteered or were redeployed to assist on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an RSNA News story with video interviews, residents note that their experiences have strengthened their relationships with their colleagues in other medical departments and opened their eyes to the importance of adapting quickly to help patients under the most trying circumstances. On a different note, radiology departments have had to be creative to continue to support their residents during these challenging times. In her My Turn column, RSNA Board of Directors president-elect Mary C. Mahoney, MD, describes how online practices such as virtual daily huddles, scavenger hunts and video-based distance learning have been keys to keeping her program's residents on track.
