Technology is meant to make people’s lives easier in the most effective ways possible. Most technological products are being used directly by common people, but Medical Technology is slightly different when compared to other technological devices.
The people (generally patients) , taking advantage of medical technology usually won't use it on their own. Rather, some healthcare professionals use it on them for diagnosis or treatment purposes. Therefore, Biomedical Engineers very rarely interact directly with patients. This makes our efforts go unnoticed most of the time, as our work is behind the scenes.
Many pieces of Lifesaving equipment such ventilators and defibrillators are priceless because they save many lives during their lifespan. If such equipment are not functioning properly in case of an emergency, there’s no point in having them available in a hospital. That's where the importance of Biomedical Engineers / Technicians comes to play. They ensure the availability and accuracy of each and every piece of medical equipment in a healthcare facility.
Biomedical Engineers - Doing everything behind the scenes, but their actions make everything smooth on the scene.
